banh khot
small dome-shaped vietnamese crepes filled with shrimp and colored/flavored with turmeric and coconut. delicious but just about impossible to find in any vietnamese restaurant on the us east coast (although they’re very easy to find on the us west coast).
if you go to san francisco or seattle, no vietnamese dinner is complete without banh khot for an appetizer.
