Basketball minute
the equivalent of a football minute; a basketball minute is when someone asks for a minute to do something, even though they know it will take much longer than 60 seconds. the basketball minute is particularly a last-minute football minute.
woman: your sandwich will be ready in a minute!
man: if you prepare it like you get ready in the morning, it’ll be more like a basketball minute, and i’m starved!
