beating yourself
basically, to beat yourself, is to neglect your own needs and possibly your own reputation/social status, for the benefit of the greater good or your own tribe/group. the opposite of selfishness.
it is the opposite of being a mooch, sponger, chancer. etc. the opposite of a sellout.
people who live as hermits often do this; to gain wisdom. it is also seen as a practice that is cherished in buddhism. see: asceticism
if you are beating yourself; there is a likely scenario that you will be seen as a martyr.
killing yourself and dying a virgin to stay chaste and not getting laid for social status or popularity, is beating yourself.
not going to college even when you are smart and can be a billionaire, is beating yourself.
refusing to sign to a major label when you’re a talented underground artist, even when you’re poor and starving; is beating yourself.
going to war and fighting for your country, is beating yourself.
most amerindians in south america are taught to fight and die for their tribe. they have to get stung by bullet ants 20 times and do a ritual dance to become a warrior. this is an act of beating yourself.
to beat yourself is to not sell out and to fight and die for your cause. it is a brave act. something that is very rare in this day and age. fakes, c-nts and cowards in society with no cl-ss and insecurity, tend to despise these types of people, and dismiss/ridicule them as losers or savages.
