a phrase referring to the sudden, unexpected, and unexplained removal of oneself from a position of employment. usually executed in a flippant manner, sometime by email, and always followed by a gift of produce.
if a person were to leave their place of employment and only give, say a few hours notice and not say goodbye to her co-workers, that would be “bring in the tomatoes”
