in french canadian slang, pretty much the equivalent of ‘f-ck’ but with no s-xual meaning – the word is used as a vulgar interjection. literal translation: martyrdom.
note: ‘crisse’, ‘hestie’, tabarnac and ‘câlisse’ have a very similar meanings and are equally vulgar. a locutor can stack them together as to create a rhetorical figure (see examples).
