carbon tax

an unpopular australian labour party policy to tackle climate change by putting a price on carbon emissions. the idea is that polluters will pay per tonne of carbon they release into the atmosphere. the reality was that average household costs were vastly increased and international business was deterred from investment in australia. it is widely accepted that the carbon tax was the reason that the australian labour party lost the 2013 general election.
wow, my power bill has increased 60%, my company has just made me redundant plus i’ve made no difference to climate change! thanks labour, this carbon tax is fantastic!
