Circular Irony
circular irony is when an idea or more specifically an ideology is employed that contains contradictions within itself that render the idea or ideology invalid in an unexpected way
an example of this would be freedom of speech. while i understand that it is fundamental to our way of life, it does contain potential contradictions that defeat it. these are people such as hard left feminists or social justice warriors that would use their powers of freedom of speech to shut down opinions they don’t like. this violates the powers of freedom of speech of others and themselves because without freedom of speech, they do not have the power to shut down opinions they don’t like. this is a mind spinning paradox that they themselves have yet to figure out.

person 2: hey, that is circular irony. if you try to shut down my freedom of speech, you shut down your own freedom of speech because it is a human right.
