one of a group of people sent by one civilization to another land for the purposing of “civilizing” the civilization that is already there, under the -ssumption that the existing civilization is not civilized. see bigot and racism.
europeans thought that having more powerful weapons and larger armies, (see army), made them more civilized than anyone else, so they sent colonists to bring all the other civilizations down to their level.
