coupe shuffle
the action of the p-ssenger in a coupe (2-door car) exiting the vehicle so the p-ssengers in the back can leave. the p-ssenger then returns to his given front seat.
since jim was leaving last, he opted to sit in the back to avoid an annoying coupe shuffle.
