culisimo
spanglish for something that is very cool (coolest). in formal spanish, culisimo means “-ssiest” (or really big -ss).
the word was coined 30 years ago in an episode of the pbs situation comedy “qué pasa u.s.a.?”, which depicted the often humorous and sometimes poignant culture shock of a cuban-american family in miami.
here the word is used in both senses (a really big -ss and something that’s very cool):
what a culisimo on that mami! it’s more than cool, it’s culisimo!
