Dear Francis
adjective; describes the letter a female member of the military who is deployed to a war writes to her husband/ boyfriend at home to inform him that the relationship is over; connotation: she met someone else while she is fighting a war. usually, dear francis letters admit some sort of infidelity with another serviceman.
derives its name from the opening of the original letter.
