Copy Data Virtualization

Copy Data Virtualization is an approach to data management originally created by Actifio that applies the virtualization approach to data, and specifically copy data. Copy data virtualization is designed to free copy data from isolated use case-defined silos or infrastructure.

Copy data, or data that has been copied and retained for either backup, archival or regulatory preservation, has seen an exponential proliferation in enterprises recently. And with multiple copy data repositories in enterprises often operating independent of each other, finding ways to streamline the time and costs associated with managing large amounts of copy data has become more of a challenge for IT.
Copy Data Virtualization Services Emerge

This has resulted in new categories of software and services like copy data virtualization that have emerged to better handle copy data and the data storage needs of companies. The most prominent copy data virtualization solution is Actifio’s Copy Data Virtualization solution.
