MSCDEX


Short for Microsoft CD-ROM Extension, a driver that enables DOS and Windows 3.x systems to recognize and control CD-ROM players. The driver is located in a file called MSCDEX.EXE. Windows 95 replaces MSCDEX with a 32-bit, dynamically loadable driver called CDFS.

    A service that broadcasts information to a variety of compatible electronic devices such as watches and appliances. This broadcast service includes information options such as traffic routes, gas prices, weather reports, stock prices and more. MSN Direct uses the Microsoft DirectBand wireless data casting network to broadcast information.
