to be laid off at a specified, future date.
employee x goes to work at z on 1/31/2014. upon arriving at work, x finds out he/she will be laid off on 6/15/2014. x will continue to work at z until 6/15/2014, at which point x will be laid off.
y: “hey, x! how was work at z today?”
x: “not great, y. i got delayed off today.”
