drink and dial
the inevitable process of calling a romantic interest (girlfriend, boyfriend, etc) while intoxicated to confess random thoughts about absolutely nothing. usually, you will sound very stupid and pathetic.
friend1: dude, i called jessica and told her that i loved her.
friend2: are you drunk?
friend1: yeah.
friend2: i told you not to drink and dial. your such a f-ckin idiot.
calling up and possibly saying messed up things to a romantic or s-xual interest while under the influence of alcohol.
the phonecall could be directed at an ex, or at someone you find unattractive when sober.
origin: unknown, but probably entered the mainstream from the film ‘sideways’.
lionel: “hey, baby, i think you’re so fine. i don’t care if you live 89 miles away, drive down here so i can make sweet love to you.”
ugly-chick or ex-girlfriend: “ooh, it’s about time you called me, big-boy. wait… are you drunk? oh, i don’t care. i’ll be down in 15 minutes.”
todd (lionel’s friend): “what the h-ll are you calling her for? she’s the ex you dumped because she only shaved her legs in the spots where she had holes in her jeans! did you drink and dial?”
