to stop a discussion or debate because you expect the outcome to devolve in a preordered process to something that approximates g-dwin’s law. this usually occurs by someone with the wisdom or experience to antic-p-te such an outcome and may give the more vocal and/or calcified poster thinking he/she has won an argument.
i was going to post about how microsoft’s design choices have been responsive to user’s stated desires but decided to “drown a kitten” as i thought of the other psuedo-religious technical discussions that already existed.
