when fans of a movie, tv show, book try to explain away terrible ideas, writing, plot points as being the writer’s intention. usually involves long winded explanations relying on information never presented by the author – or even contradicting information previously conveyed in the story. the worse the writing is, the more insane the fan logic gets.
also applies to people (celebrities, politicians, cult leaders), religious books, pseudo-science proponents.
