Filipino American

a term used to describe an american citizen who is either from the philippines, someone who’s ancestors are from the philippines. some are dual citizens, others are either permanent resident or citizens only of the united states. a true filipino american has learned to love both the philippines and the u.s., embracing their heritage but taking pride in being an american. other stupid pr-cks that decide to bash on one country or another any chance they get are not considered filipino americans, they are called -ssholes. others discriminate against filipino americans because of the stereotypes that surround them, but they can go f-ck themselves.

an oxymoron used to describe an american who is from or whose ancestors were from the phillipines. filipino is a nationality and colonial ident-ty, but not an ethnicity. one cannot be a citizen of the phillipines and a citizen of the united states at the same time. one can be from one of the ethnic groups indigenous to the phillipines and be a citizen of the united states.

one can be ilocano-american, negrito-american, ibalois-american, etc., but not filipino-american.

some so called filipino-americans are descendants of the spanish colonial population. they cannot be called spanish-american as spanish is not a distinct ethnicity but a national and colonial ident-ty as well. they fall under the category of “white”.

1.most(not all!) filipino-americans have colonial mentality/ inferiority complex, think they’re much better than fob filipinos/filipinos back in the philippines and make fun of them whenever they have the chance and disown their culture and heritage with a p-ssion. their are exceptions i.e. me and other filipinos who defy the typical fil-am way of thinking.
