Fingering the bass
to “finger the b-ss” means to finger a v-g-n- with skill. b-ss guitarists are known to have skilled fingers, and fast hands, and often “finger” the notes to produce the sounds on their instrument. this is also a pun on the word “b-ss” and “b-ss”, “b-ss” being short for a b-ss guitar, and “b-ss” being a type of fish. v-g-n-s are often referred to as being “fishy”. haha, great pun, i know!
“so, since you’re a skilled b-ss guitarist, does that mean you’ll be good at ‘fingering the b-ss’, as it were?”
