derived from the word avalanche, a food-a-lanche is what happens when someone opens the door to a refrigerator and food containers tumble out onto the floor. this situation commonly arises when a refrigerator is packed full and items have been carelessly stacked.
i went to get a fresh beer, and when i opened the fridge, -bam- i was caught in a food-a-lanche. a jar of pickles bounced off my toe, and i had to pick up a bunch of ketchup packets and leftovers. one of these days i’ve gotta rearrange all the stuff on the top shelf.
