although it is speculated that it is hispanic in its origins, it is most commonly attributed to north-america- – where people belonging to ranching communities often partic-p-te in activities solely for the purpose of emphasizing and expressing this ident-ty. examples being partic-p-ting in bull riding, gun shows and fishing – activities which to those who are cisnormative, can be seen as symbolic of masculism – when in fact they are non-binary gender specific and instead are symbolic of ranching.
