god modding

“g-d modding” is in essence when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. and example is when they simply cannot be harmed by any and all means other rp-ers try.

-it can be killing or injuring a character without the player’s express permission.
-it can be when they simply can’t be hit and dodge all attacks or anything for this matter aimed at them.
-it can also be using other characters that other people rp with. in other words, if you do not rp as
legolas, then you cannot have legolas say anything, or do anything, without the player’s express permission.

the absolute worst is when they make out another character to be what they’re not, just to make their own character seem superior. they make others seem weak, screaming for help, when they’ve made it quite clear about their advantages and strengths. this is called power-play. it’s a strain of g-d-modding, but instead of just being irritating, it’s offensive to boot.
this is a prime example of g-d modding:

player a: punches player b
player b: dodges attack, grabs player a and throws him. player a flies at player b, who warps behind him and slashes player a in the back.
mispelling of g-dmoding & g-d modding in rpg and forum settings, thus the meaning is the same. the term applies to “g-dly-modification” or “g-dlike-modification” to a character, through skills such as evasion and the like, as well as the character’s personality which usually consists of a superior “i know all, see all, and am all”, et cetera. the singlemost annoying and obnoxious gamers on the planet. tend to act like 7 year olds when they don’t get their way during games of pretend, i.e. – bang, you’re dead! yeah huh, i killed you and you can’t play anymore!
g-dmodding bill not only managed to magically know the secret base’s true location, but also p-ssed all of the armed guards by hopping from tree to tree like a natural-born monkey, and managing to rewire the electric locks which were state-of-the-art using a paperclip and a piece of fuzz from his pocket. once inside, bill used his deadly and artful bare hands (along with a combitionation of poison that he had learned in one week to brew in his toilet) to take down 38 of the guards and dogs, inside. that done, it was a mere task of busting through fifty-eight doors and cartwheeling gracefully through the laser beams, before waltzing into the innermost vault and plucking up the plans for complete world domination.
the term god modding comes from roleplaying. g-d modding is creating a character who is of an invincible nature and can do anything. g-d modders are also infamous for bunnying other characters’ actions.
an example of god modding is making a spikey blonde hair character that can fly and toss energy b-lls that can level cities while being nigh indestructable.
it’s a term used in rps that is used when someone does an action/actions that are impossible to defend against. it is also used when someone describes how the other person is affected by it, thus leaving the player unable to rp his/her own character.

for fighting, it’s being able to dodge everything and always h-t your opponent. for other things, like using something that takes over someone’s mind, it’s saying that you take over their mind and do this or that to them without allowing them to figure out if they can defend against it.

being a g-d modder is a sign of douch baggedry and makes it to where other player’s do not want to rp with you.
fighting: person a dodged person b sword attack, and then dodged the lightning bolt from the sky that person b cast. person a then hit’s person b, sending person b flying, then hit’s person b with a huge fire bolt, thus burning person b.

person a wins the fight and harms person b because person a made it impossible to hit him, then he made it to where b was affected by everything.

mental: person a cast’s a spell on person b, now person b is under person a’s control. person a then tells person b to go commit suicide, person b is now dead.

person a get’s rid of person b do to god modding because they forced the other person to be affected by it and say how b reacted without letting b do anything.
taking control of another person’s character on a role-playing forum or chatroom. sometimes done by mistake, when a player believes another player’s character was doing something they weren’t. can also be used to refer to using out-of-character knowledge (information the player has that their character shouldn’t) to gain an in-character advantage, though this is more accurately described with the term metagaming.

g-dmodding and godmoding are often mistaken for being the same word or concept. however, godmoding (or power gaming) is, in fact, a separate concept with its own, distinct meaning.
player a: alice calls bob forward, and the moment he steps forward, the trap is sprung, dropping him into the floor below!
player b: hey, that’s godmodding, i never said bob stepped forward!

player b: bob carefully steps over the trap as he approaches alice.
player a: bob doesn’t know there’s a trap there! i call godmodding!
a term used in role-playing games or situations that describes someone as using an over powered emote that allows them to feat any rp obstacle thrown at them.

–this term is often over used and misunderstood, due to the fact that it can be confused with an other meaning of the word “g-d modding”, which is a bannable high powered in-game hack that allows that particular player unbelievable power in the game, such as invulnerability, extreme damage and possibly the ability to noclip (fly).
example of g-d modding as can be seen in-game

gothran is surrounded on all sides by enemies.

gothran pulls a gnomish grenade out of his pocket, throwing it down. he puts a shield on protecting him from the blast while the grenade blows all his enemies back! he then calls his n-ble dragon and quickly rides off into the distance cackling!
an incorrect spelling of “god moding” used only by r-t-rds who don’t know the proper term.
idiot: “ur tottalee god modding!!!!!11”
intelligent fellow: “you’re an idiot. the proper spelling is god moding as in god mode of video game lore.”
