a day off work, solely for the pleasure of the individual, or used to avoid what one antic-p-tes to be a bad day. can also be the term used by the over 50’s who are ent-tled to a day off once a year as an extra benefit.
equivalent to taking a ‘sickie’.
‘so i’ll see you tomorrow then!’
‘afraid not. i’m having a golden day tomorrow!’
