a term used to describe a made-up phrase which means exactly the same thing as a more commonly-used word, but is less widely accepted by the society in which it is created; a neologism.
whizzbong is a golmer i made up for basketball. because who wants to use the term basketball? whizzbong sounds cooler.
also, golmer is a neologism for neologism.
