software code bought by a company and embedded in their own product which becomes much more expensive than originally thought to maintain, but even more expensive to replace, allowing the original software writer to wildly increase their annual fees.
each year i pay 20% more for that gougeware we bought from abcdsoft and will continue to do so until my product is obsolete as i cannot find an alternative.
