a style of morbid, french, experimental theater popular among the hip in the late eighteen-hundreds to the mid twentieth-century.
‘the theatre of the vampires’ in ‘interview with the vampire’ was straight grand guignol. kirsten dunst’s comment of, ‘how avant-garde,’ was priceless.
