an unmotivated adult — usually at least somewhat out-of-shape physically — who wheezingly/gruntingly shirks his basic duties, especially when it comes to caring for young children.
every time we have a family get-together, my parents always -ssign some groanup — an aunt, uncle, grandparent — to “look after” me, but all that person usually does is either moan about being too weak/tired/ignorant to help me with whatever question/problem i come to him about, or pretend to never understand what it is that i want.
