Hetalia

a j-panese comedy online manga/anime taking place around the time of world war ii. all of its characters represent modern day countries, such as kiku honda(j-pan), ludwig(germany), and feliciano(italy).
all the characters are the stereotypes of their countries. such as alfred(america) is often seen eating cheeseburgers, heracles(greece) loves cats, feliciano(italy) is addicted to pasta, and the most infamous one: francis(france) is the extreme bis-xual hopeless romantic.
it was originally going to be aired on tv, but korean protesters found its portrayal of the korea character(im young soo) to be offensive.(so it was canceled.)
“my favorite hetalia character is china(w-ng yao) because he loves pandas and h-llo kitty!” (all true facts)
“its so cute how greece always is cuddling his kitties!”
“francis has to stop groping people.” (also true facts…)
an epic manga about the time around wwii. its characters are all stereotyped people of a country put into one person’s body per county. ex. italy = pasta loving guy = feliciano.

it’s movie is coming out on june 5, 2010.
1. me and my friends are going to j-pan to see the hetalia movie

2. my fav. character is either italy, austria, germany or prussia
anime history cl-ss with h-m-s-xual countries.
person: what’s your favourite subject in school?

me: hetalia!!

person: -backs away frightened-
hetalia: axis powers or hetalia: world series is a j-panese webcomic, later adapted as a manga and an anime series, by hidekaz himaruya.

the series presents an allegorical interpretation of political and historic events, particularly of the world war ii era, in which the various countries are represented by stereotyped anthropomorphic characters.

it’s a comedy, and historical genre.
awesome hetalia fan: i love south korea! he’s so cute, too bad he isn’t in the anime…

another awesome hetalia fan: yeah, me too, i love romano and poland, too, though!

h8tr: hetalia sucks. dumbo. i’m stupid.
a j-panese anime originating as a manga. the show takes place during world war ii, and each country is represented as a character. each character represents many of the stereotypes of that particular nation, such as italy’s love for pasta.
some feel that the show is educational to an extent, although not much is done educationally other than references to events that coincide with the episode’s plot.
the fandom is often criticized for using stereotypes to define the characters’ personalities and the way that counties are stereotyped.
the episodes in the anime are short: most last around five minutes. an episode usually consists of one or two groups of characters with a small plot.
person 1: i love hetalia! greece by far is definitely my fav character.

person 2: i like hetalia, although the stereotypes annoy me.

person 3: i hate that gay piece of cr-p. it should have been canceled a long time ago.
an anime where they portray history with personified countries.
it’s pretty stereotypical and moe.
hetare (j-panese stupid, idiotic) and itaria (j-panese for italy) make up the t-tle “hetalia.”
it’s mainly focusing on italy’s cowardice in wwii.

personally, i love hetalia.
i think it’s a great doorway for people to get interested in history and the world.
plus it’s pretty d-mn funny and the dub for it isn’t even that bad. personally, i prefer it over the j-panese version because the accents really give it life. and what not.
i also like it because it makes j-pan /not/ seem like the best country evarrrr in anime.

though, basically everything comes with some crazy -ss fandom. the phrase i despise is “i learned my history for hetalia!”
hetalia is not a subst-tute for a history book.
i also just don’t get the pairings.
i don’t know about you, but shipping two countries together is just /wrong/
perhaps i could understand the whole poland/lithuania or austria/hungary to an extent since they were ‘married’

well, prussia x himself is fairly understandable.
hetalia is one of my favourite anime/mangas.
