an unmarried and perhaps unmarriageable woman who practices the art of loud verbal vituperative rejections of advances from both male and female suitors. usually but not always a virgin with infusions of grandure from some religious sect or daughters of this or that revolutions club.
this person may also be a female heffern and totally incapable of a courtly approach to loving. however she is not to be confused with a heffer who is much more aproachable and kind.
