Hoogeveen
ruling city in the netherlands. after its golden age as being the biggest inland port of north-western europe in the 19th century, this former turf-captial of the netherlands has aquired a key role in setting a cultural and economical standard in the netherlands. this is especailly related to the distinct socio-cultural character of its inhabitants, known to be tough, straightforward and not rarely considered anti-social. as such, they are key parias to fuel dutch cultural development.
known widely for its championing football team, vv hoogeveen and of course its impressive cascade (biggest in europe), hoogeveen is often underestimated by foreigners.
