Hostile obedience
the act of following directions from an authority figure to the nth degree all the while knowing that the effort will yield meaningless/worthless data or results. this is generally accompanied with the smug self-satisfaction of knowing that you have wasted 6 weeks completing a project whose value is zero and being able to tell you boss with a smart–ss grin that you did exactly what you were told.
there are two types of bad employees – one never does what is asked of them – the other only does what is asked of them. a person who practices hostile obedience falls into this second category
