Hyperdimension Neptunia

a popular j-panese role-playing video game series exclusive to the playstation that revolves around a group of goddesses who attempt to save their world from evil. part of the series’ claim to fame is that it parodies popular culture and gaming tropes: the main character neptune represents the defunct sega neptune, her sister nepgear represents the sega game gear, etc.

the series has a long list of t-tles that spans the ps3 and ps vita, with a new game released on the ps4. hyperdimension neptunia has received criticism in the west for supposedly supporting mysogyny and s-xism, although this is not true. quite the opposite, in fact. the games show that females can be portrayed as s-xy yet strong and independent.

despite the criticism, however, the games have done the seemingly impossible: western rpg lovers have fallen in love with neptune and her friends. although a relatively small t-tle in the west, the neptunia t-tles make millions for developer compile heart.
