itchy sugarlumps


itchy sugarlumps is an irish slang term for square bales of hay, usually used for bribing members of the garda síochána (the irish police force).

the term is mostly used in the midlands where there is a higher concentration of illegal sports, eg. dog fighting, c-ck fighting, child fighting.
seamus: “the f-ckin’ guards came by and me with a feed of drink in me and the young lad lyin dead under the van!”

brenden: “and how did you get out of that one, seamus?”

seamus: “ah i just slipped him a few itchy sugarlumps and he doddled off, the big bollox!”

brendan: “ah your some boyo, seamus!”
