being a man of letters, snoop was involved in a little-known debate with the lbc’s board of trustees over the misspelling of “dog” in his pseudonym in 2000. the lbc felt that it led admiring fans to accept poor english, but upon snoop’s election to the lbc board in 2001, the subject has been dropped, especially in light of snoop’s 2004 publication, “it’s an abc thang: the use of variant language as a viable alternative in urban expression”, available from the berkley press.
long beach california. lbc has nothing to do with compton, it’s all about long beach pride. have you ever heard anyone in c-town proudly refer to the lbc as their home? and even if it originally meant long beach crip, that meaning has since morphed to mean “long beach, california” as most people now abbreviate their hometown to the letters lbc.

contrary to popular belief and usage this term was orignially coined to mean long beach compton. the term was popularized in order to describe the groups who had members living in both compton and north east long beach which nearly border one another.
