purposefully reading books in order to escape from your own problems, either by reading biographies about people who have had harder lives than you, or fiction to give you hope that there is something better, somewhere.
man, i’ve had such a bad day, i can’t believe i only got an 80% on that last exam – i’m heading to chapters for some literary therapy. i’m sure someone in the gaza strip has a harder life than i do.
