philosophically speaking, the blue-collar members of a literary community. working writers for whom poetry, fiction, and other forms and genres of literature are not strictly the domain of the highbrow and culturally-coutured, and not confined to or controlled by academia (i.e, the mfa). sometimes called “ham and eggers.”
