maafa


maafa is a kiswahili for term meaning “great disaster. it has come to be -ssociated with the era of the european and arab slave trade. the resulting effect on african people: over 100 million people lost their lives and their descendants have been systematically and continuously -ssaulted through inst-tutionalized anti-africanism.

ubuntu is the opposite of maafa and was the dominant paradigm in africa leading up to it.
examples of the maafa include jim crow segregation, lynching, apartheid, colonialism, neo-colonialism, lynching, forced sterilizations, slavery, post traumatic slave syndrome and stockholm syndrome.
