the act of over-n-lyzing everything in the way that is so irrelevant that it doesn’t even apply to what you are asking or talking about
an example of a mccarvered response would be if you asked what time it was, someone would tell you the details and pieces of his watch and how it worked. elderly people tend to do this when telling a story with many irrelevant details.
