metal-purist
a metal purist doesn’t necessarily favor one genre of metal over another. they aren’t like metal elitists.. the difference between a metal purist and a metalhead is the fact that metalheads will also allow core to be called metal, where as a metal purist realizes the difference between the 2 separate genre’s backgrounds. for instance core is a music genre fusing elements of hardcore punk and various forms of electronic music. where as metal has its roots from blues rock and psychedelic rock. a metal purist realizes the difference between the 2 genres and will defend the metal name against people who try to infuse the 2 genres. hence the name pure.
