minoritizing
the process whereby an all-white inst-tution or virtually all-white inst-tution usually a university attempts to deceive those who are on the outside looking in into believing it is a diverse inst-tution. common ways of doing this include disproportionately making minorities tour leaders for students coming to see the inst-tution, making the face of the school website a minority, making the face of the orientation books and academic catalogs minorities,etc…
this often sucks in actual minorities into believing that they will be in a diverse inst-tution only to suffer a m-ssive culture shock within the first two to three weeks of their actual arrival at school.
inst-tutions guilty of the insidious tactic of minoritizing include:- university of maine, southern methodist university, university of mary washington, james madison university, penn state, nyu,etc….
