in dark times, this ment someone with mudsh-t on there face.
the only way to travel was by horse… so they have to do there business too, right !!!
sometimes mud and horse sh-t would mixed and becomes “mudsh-t”.
so some lucky b-st-rd would get a horseshoe full in the face.

and also it’s a cl-ssier way to say {mother f-cker}.
