1. old phrase that means: what are you thinking? technically it means: i’ll give you a penny if you tell me what you are thinking. it’s silly to give a penny or receive one for your thoughts so no one ever does. peter frampton used it for the t-tle of his guitar instrumental that can be heard on frampton comes alive.
