prison customs, norms, beliefs, environment, atmosphere, lifestyle, social interaction, inmate code and values. in addition to inmates, correctional officers and staff interaction with each other.
examples of prison culture: inmates not snitching on another inmate. inmates showing respect for another inmates property. underground economy of trading goods and services in prison. keeping your bunk area clean if living in a two person cell. disrespecting another inmate can lead to violence against the person.
