a band that defied labels that formed in 1978. the original members were john lydon (formerly johnny rotten of the s-x pistols), keith levene, and john wardle (jah wobble). only john lydon remained throughout the entire pil lifespan, making eight studio alb-ms and two live alb-ms. pil is currently on hiatus.
