right-onism
1. oppressive political correctness.
2. the tendency for activists to show excessive zeal in advocating their “righteous” causes, to the point of numbing their audience.
3. jumping on the bandwagon of social movements in a lemming-like fashion.
there’s been a relentless rise of right-onism since the ’90s. not to be confused with onanism, though functionally equivalent.
man, i’m tired of being preached to by self-righteous vegans and environmentalists. they can take their right-onism and shove it.
after this harvey weinstein debacle, suddenly everyone’s a feminist ! i’m sick of all this opportunistic right-onism.
