the theory in mario kart stating that it is, in fact, beneficial to remain in second place throughout the course of a race, as this will allow the player to avoid incoming blue sh-lls, while simultaneously putting them in an advantageous position to overtake the first place racer when appropriate.
person 1: “how did you win the circuit by coming in second place in every race?”
