rugid
a compound of the terms ‘rigid’ and ‘rugged’ in the same way that ginormous is a compound of ‘gigantic’ and ‘enormous’. used increasingly in europe to refer to footwear for outdoor activities that is hard-wearing but also technically supportive (usually referring to torsion).
