to follow the crowd and do what is popular these days.
back when i was in middle school, many people used to listen to sh-t like marilyn manson, korn, and limp bizkit. then in high school, bands like slipknot and linkin park were already becoming popular. nowadays with the decline of nu-metal, more and more people are running with the world and listening to bands like killswitch engage and shadows fall.
and of course the hip-hop trend, which was alway present throughout the 90s, has never died out yet.
