sex cell division
this is also called meiosis. it is the production of s-x cells, or gametes. it is different from mitosis, or normal cell division.
gametes are sperm and egg cell.
one gamete contains 1/2 the genetic information that a parent cell would have.
at the end of meiosis, there will be 4 “daughter cells” from 1 parent cell.
errors in this process lead to conditions such as:
– down syndrome
– turner syndrome
klinefelter syndrome
and more!
