when a smelly odor tends to linger without being able to detect the source of the stank thus leading you on a search using your nose to locate the source of the smell.
d-mn last night i woke up 3 times to go on a sniff and search, later found out cindy feed the pups taco bell with fire sauce they slept under the bed p-ssing gas all night.
